Jim Mullen - Chairman
Mr. Mullen is Chief Executive Officer of Patheon Inc., a pharmaceutical contract manufacturer.
He was most recently with Biogen Idec, Inc., where he held the position of President and CEO for ten years. Biogen Idec was formed from the merger, led by Mr. Mullen, of Biogen, Inc. and Idec Pharmaceuticals, to form one of the world's largest biotechnology companies. Prior to the merger, Mr. Mullen was the President and CEO of Biogen, Inc. from 2000 to 2002, and Chairman, CEO and President until 2003.
Prior to that, Mr. Mullen held various operating positions at Biogen, including Vice President, Operations, and several manufacturing and engineering positions over a nine-year period at SmithKline Beckman, Inc.
Mr. Mullen's 30-year career includes extensive experience in pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturing, engineering, sales, marketing, mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Mullen's breadth of industry experience includes biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and specialty chemicals.
Mr. Mullen holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a Master of Business Administration from Villanova University.
Ronald Brus
Dr Ronald Brus is Crucell’s President and Chief Executive Officer. He has been a member of Crucell’s Management Committee since the Company’s incorporation and was formerly Chief Operating Officer (March 2003 to January 2004) and Chief Business Officer (October 2000 to February 2003).
Prior to that, he was Executive Vice President Business Development after joining the Company in 1997. From 1994 to 1996 he was product planning physician at Forest Laboratories in New York and from 1990 to 1994 he was Medical Director for Zambon B.V.
He holds a medical degree from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands.
Arthur Lahr
Mr Arthur Lahr is Crucell’s Chief Strategy Officer and Executive Vice President Business Development. He joined Crucell in April 2001 as Executive Director Business Development and became a member of the Management Committee in January 2004, Executive Vice President in January 2006 and assumed responsibility for European marketing & sales and company strategy in 2006.
From 1994 to 2001 he was a consultant with McKinsey & Co. in the Netherlands and New York. Prior to that, he worked at Unilever.
He holds a Masters in Business Administration from INSEAD and a Masters in Science in Applied Physics from the University of Delft, the Netherlands.
Stefan Doboczky
Stefan Doboczky, an Austrian national, sits on the Managing Board of DSM with responsibility for DSM’s Pharma cluster as well as the regional responsibility of DSM’s activities in Asia, and is at present President of the Business Group DSM Anti- Infectives.
He has built a strong track record within the DSM Pharma cluster and has particular experience with business development in high growth economies, including Asia. Before joining DSM in 1998, Mr. Doboczky worked at ARCO Chemicals in Austria and the UK.
Mr. Doboczky held several senior positions in DSM Pharmaceutical Products, before he became Vice President and Business Unit Director China for DSM Anti-Infectives based in Beijing in 2006. In 2009 he became the President of DSM Anti-Infectives.
Mr. Doboczky studied at the Technical University of Vienna, Austria and he holds a Master in Chemistry and a PhD in Natural and Technical Sciences as well as an MBA from IMD in Lausanne.
Alexander Wessels
Alexander R. Wessels is the President and Chief Executive Officer of DSM Pharmaceutical Products.
Xander Wessels has worked in the nutrition and life sciences industries for 20 years, including 4 years at DSM, most recently as Business Group President of DSM Food Specialties. Headquartered in Parsippany, NJ (USA), the DSM Pharmaceutical Products business group includes DSM Biologics, DSM Pharma Chemicals and DSM Pharmaceuticals.
Prior to joining DSM, Xander held various management and executive positions in the food, beverage and nutrition industries including at Quest International (Unilever) and Campina.
Xander holds an MSc in Molecular Sciences from Wageningen University in the Netherlands, and both an MSM and MBA from the Krannert Business School of Purdue University in the United States.
